Phenolic tubing is a tube that has been impregnated with resin, wrapped spirally, and cured using heat. It possesses significantly greater strength compared to cardboard tubing, offering nearly 5 times the compression strength. This type of tubing serves as an excellent foundation for rockets that will need reinforcement with materials such as fiberglass, Kevlar, carbon fiber, or similar substances. Therefore, we suggest using phenolic tubing for rockets measuring 15.2 cm, 19.1 cm, or 28.9 cm in diameter or those intended for transonic or supersonic flight conditions that require additional strengthening. Moreover, we advise opting for phenolic tubing for transonic or supersonic flights in rocket kits ranging from 2.8 cm to 6.4 cm in diameter since phenolic can generally endure such flights without the need for extra reinforcement. PML Phenolic tubing exhibits exceptional heat resistance and is highly recommended for motor mount tubes and applications involving minimal diameters.
